Polymarket Paper Trading: Practice Copy Trading Without Risk

Polymarket has no built-in paper-trading mode. If you want to practice before risking capital, you use a third-party tool. Most free simulators hand you a virtual balance and a blank order ticket, which tests manual trading. A copy strategy is a different test: the leader picks the trades, and execution decides whether you get the same price.

BlockRotate's trial runs a real Polymarket wallet through the same detection, sizing, slippage, and risk-control path as a live bot. Fills are simulated against live market prices. You can watch a leader's trades reach your paper account without depositing anything.

What the 14-day trial includes

  • One active paper-trading bot
  • Access to the full leader discovery ranking and AlphaRank scores
  • Live Polymarket prices with simulated fills
  • A copy ratio, maximum slippage, and per-market and total exposure caps
  • The momentum filter and daily loss controls used by live bots
  • No credit card required

The trial is paper only. If you want to trade live after it ends, Starter is $29 per month and includes a standard co-located execution pool.

How paper trading works

  1. Pick a wallet from the ranking above, or open the full leaderboard.
  2. Create a bot in paper mode, then set the copy ratio and limits you would use live.
  3. Let it run. The bot watches the leader's wallet and simulates each matching order at the current market price.
  4. Compare your simulated fills with the leader's entries. If the slippage is acceptable, move the same configuration to a live bot.

What paper trading can and cannot test

A paper run tells you whether a leader trades often enough for your risk limits, whether detection reaches the simulated order before the price has moved, and how the strategy behaves across categories and holding periods. That is useful evidence about execution.

The simulation uses available prices rather than your order's market impact, so fills in a thin market can differ from a live order. It also removes the discipline problem: the bot follows the rules whether you would have or not. A clean paper run shows that the process works. It does not show that the next trade will make money.

Paper trading vs a generic simulator

ToolWhat it tests
Polymarket nativeNo paper-trading mode.
Generic simulatorVirtual cash and manual orders. No leader tracking, and no copy configuration.
BlockRotate trialSimulated fills on a real leader's trades, using the same execution and risk settings as a live bot.

When to move from paper to live

Run at least 20 to 30 simulated fills before you decide. Check the gap between the leader's entry and your simulated fill, and whether the leader's position sizes fit the caps you set. If the fills track closely and you understand the category, move the same bot to live trading on Starter at $29 per month.

Start with a small allocation. Copy trading can lose money, and a leader's past PnL does not guarantee your fills. Check that you are eligible to trade on Polymarket in your jurisdiction before you fund a bot.

FAQ

Does Polymarket have paper trading?

No. Polymarket does not offer a native paper-trading mode. Third-party tools simulate orders against live market prices, and some of them support copy-trading strategies.

Is the BlockRotate trial free?

Yes. The 14-day trial includes one active paper-trading bot and does not require a credit card. Live trading requires a paid plan after the trial.

Can I practice copying a real trader?

Yes. Pick any wallet from the discovery ranking, run it in paper mode, and the bot simulates the trades it detects against live prices.

How long is the trial?

14 days. Starter is $29 per month after that if you want to trade live.

What happens to my bot after the trial?

The paper bot stops unless you choose a paid plan. The configuration can carry over to a live bot on Starter or above.

Is paper trading accurate?

It uses live prices and the same execution logic as a live bot, but it cannot model your order's market impact or a thin order book. Treat it as a test of process, not a guarantee of fills.

Start with a paper bot

Pick a leader, run the bot against live prices for 14 days, and see the fills before you fund anything.
